With #980 there is a fair amount of “flicker” as the data view grows and shrinks. It might be less intrusive to have the data shown in a separate column to the left of the main column containing the visualisation and narrative text.
[x] Make left column larger
[x] Move headings to right column (reserve left for data)
[x] Put inputs in left column
[x] New div with id <figName>-input in left column
[x] Grow left column to left as size changes
[x] Drop simplegrid.css – predates CSS grids which are simpler and more powerful
[x] Put input elements on same grid row as associated outputs?
