Deprecation fixes #10

Fix deprecated calls and remove a configuration property specific to my machine.

Note that I did not fix the compilation errors. #5 seems to have introduced some (alongside some faulty pixel logic) but I don't exactly have a test environment on this computer allowing me to fix them. Sorry.
