The background in the number column in is not correct for gitgutter and signs when using the hard or soft contrasts of the colorscheme.

This is actually linked to how the background transparency is set. If background transparency is set, the background of the signs columns is transparent and thus the same as normal text. If background transparency is not set, the background colors differ.
