When I go through the install I don't know what to select for the modified USB sound. I don't use the modified USB sound chip or the GPIO pins. I connect the serial to USB straight to the radio and use a USB sound card for the audio. I tried the install with USB audio then changed the RX and TX to serial just like I run on my old svxlink server but it fails to start.

Hi Michael, you should be able to modify the install with the svxlink configurator, and selecting the serial options. However it depends when you downloaded the svxlinkbuilder. I read informed of a bug last minute and that caused me to change the svxlink.conf and the definitions file in the dashboard, that opens the svxlink configurator to the changes you might need to reconfigure your set up for serial use. You did the right thing by going for unmodified usb, which of course won't start, but the configurator will now give you full access to the serial port settings. Because the build is so rapid, can I suggest you begin again. That said, I might have to add a routine for the serial cards users. I didn't think there were that many. And the usb sound card is so inexpensive, it's an easy fix if you were to try it. My first unit was a serial interface but that was 15 years ago, I've used the gpiobus ever since.

I am working on a new SoundCard Identification routine that might assist. I will explore this possibility for the radios you specify, however my main focus is upon the Raspberry Pi.
