magic crafting and dungeons - a lot of things #197

I'm sure you guys have your own ideas for this, but i thought id voice a few things i thought up, as well as some changes id make to whats already here. i think some of these ideas have been touched on, but i have a big list so i thought id include my take on them anyway.

the crafting recipes for the infusion altar and pedestals make, well, absolutely no sense. theres no andesite or black concrete in the design of the blocks. having something more related to it would make more sense, like the deadwood from the hallow dimension. having a hallowed block for the base of the infusion altar would be fine... but a full 2 blocks for the altar, and another one for each pedestal is a little absurd, especially if this is the only mod you have. it took me hours to get enough hallowed ingots (with mods to make mining much much faster) to make the altar and one pedestal, and ended up with 15 shulker boxes of tainted stone. maybe my luck is just bad but thats a little insane. maybe something like a block for the base of the altar, and then ingots for the top, that would match the current visual of the block more anyway.

magic crafting! I don't really know what any of the recipes would be, but heres some ideas to make with the altar. -i think it would be cool to have the altar be required for some things, perhaps you need to craft a key to open a rare chest, or maybe even the bosses loot chest. -a boss summoning stone might be cool, but i cant see it being used to much. -a dungeon finding stone, leads you to the closest undefeated (boss is still alive perhaps?) dungeon. blinks if you are looking in the right direction. compasses just feel to accurate :3 -dungeon stone (probably needs a better name). would bring you to a pocket dimension that is entirely a dungeon, i think this would depend more on how you intend to create your dungeons than anything else. -hallowed tools and armor, perhaps 4 hallowed ingots infused into some sort of tool/armor base (maybe diamond? or just an entirely new item just for this, maybe its a dungeon drop). would be interesting if they had an effect, like each piece of armor reduces the effects of witch water, or a hallowed pickaxe can mine tainted stone really fast. -accessories, dungeon drops are fun, but it would be cool to craft some yourself as well. -a list of ideas: defensive amulet, sprinters charm, charm of gluttony, hallowed crown (produces a bluish light around you?), amulet of strength/haste/speed/etc. soul amulet (absorbs the souls of the enemies you kill and uses it as a sort of shield?) -decorational blocks, this has to be added here, cus decorational blocks are awesome. i dont really know what you would do though since they usually make more sense in a crafting grid, and i quite like the ones that you have already added. -perhaps a modification to the elytra to make it more durable? not that great of an idea, but it would be cool to atleast change the texture so its not just grey. -perhaps a modification to the hallowed charm so that you dont have to use the hallowed gate, or make it so it will send you back quicker.

dungeons! -it would be cool if there was a lot of variation in size or placement. perhaps they will spawn under a structure in the plains, or have a tall building in the desert. maybe sometimes they will take 20 minutes to go through, or hours. currently theres A LOT of space underground that could easily be used to make massive dungeons instead of just having tainted stone/dirt/gravel. -bosses are cool, though personally ive previously never found them interesting (either due to consequences of defeating them, insignificant loot, easily bypassing them, or just that they have an annoyingly large health pool). i encourage them still though, its not really a dungeon if theres no boss! having the boss drop a sort of key for a vault or unique items might be interesting though. maybe they drop their weapon or a piece of armor they are wearing. -replayability/mob spawning. it would be cool if the spawn rates of something like a mob spawner werent used. having a lot of mobs is a must though, maybe they spawn in on generation, and then slowly spawn back in over time after being killed. killing them should have some sort of rewards... but probably not usually comparable to loot chests or the likes. im sure you guys know how to make dungeons and stuff, and i dont really have anything specific, but hehe, now you have a reminder of atleast my opinion.

thanks for reading this! I hope you found something interesting/usefull.

This all sounds incredible! The Hallow development has moved from being a community project to being hosted by All Of Fabric, so I've assigned this to the new maintainer.

should i post this under https://github.com/alloffabric/the-hallow then?
