The engineering team is looking for a way to add more detailed messages about the system status to the system.
We currently have a system status widget on the nav bar that is meant to show the overall system status. We could extend this to have an option to bring up further information that would show these alerts. I wouldn't want this to be a widget on the user homepage as that should really be focused on information in the system that I care about rather than whether it is working. We'll be looking at other information that we can bring onto that page.
We also have a task to design the overall notification system which this might end up getting tied into in the long run.
From engineering:
"What is the feasibility [of showing] the last few messages from a named channel from chat.openshift.io with a hyperlink to also link to that channel.
The reason for this request is so we have a prominent location were we can provide system notifications and updates to the users in a scalable way.
Gorkem Ercan has been working on a pet project for a chat bot to assist the daily activities of a development team. It started as a replacement for the daily standup functionality I have on chat.OSIO now. It is a user bot, meaning that it can listen to all the conversations on a channel it has been added and dispatch them to different services. He can add a service that will capture last few messages and serve on a REST end point. so that we can create a channel specifically for OSIO system status and only post certain types of messages to pick up from there."
VCs:
Consider where the system status messages belong in the system
Create wireframes for location and interaction
Review with UXD Team and Dev Team
Create a visual design story if needed as follow-up
