I am working on a research project of my MPhil degree. I have got clone of this repo, but not sure how may I execute that on my staging environment in a virtual machine (Windows 10 x64).

Please guide. I would really appreciate that.

I think this sample can't be run directly, if you still want to try it you can change the file extension to .exe and then execute it.

But my advice is that you better execute it through the Cuckoo sandbox because you will get detailed malware reports. I hope this helps
