Describe the problem you'd like to solve

In my hometown, I was much more politically active. Through school, work and simply having lived for a number of years in one city, I was connected to people with similar values. Without any effort, I knew where and when protests would take place as well as a handful of organizations that were directly involved with issues close to my heart. When I moved abroad, I no longer had friends suggesting that I come along to an event and it became much more difficult to support causes that I believe in. There is a lot of information on the web, but information can be disparate or hard to find. This is an exceptional challenge in a place like London (which has so much going on) and wading through events on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook or event-based platforms such as Eventbrite is not fruitful if you aren't already aware of individuals/organizations that are advocating for causes that you care for.

It would be really great if there was an app where you easily post and search for events such as rallies, protests, discussions and lectures pertaining to activism. What would be even cooler is if you could follow particular causes - say, environmentalism, LGBTQI+ rights or Black Lives Matter - and would be sent notifications when individuals/organizations related to that cause posted events.

Who are the stakeholders?

Regular people interested in activism. Professional advocates. Charities / nonprofits.

What is currently being done to solve this problem?

I'd say mostly this is in the realm of Facebook events...but this makes it difficult for someone like me, who isn't really on Facebook... There is also Twitter, but you have to know who to follow to hear about events. Meetup has lots of little groups that you can join, but the filters are not specific enough to make finding the right groups easy.
