Describe the problem you'd like to solve In recent years there seems to have been an increase in activism around topics like environmentalism, politics and other social issues. Movements like Extinction:Rebellion and Occupy, and large-protest marches like those seen against Brexit are well reported-on in the press, but at any given time there are lots more smaller meetings, protests and other actions taking place.

This weekend alone in London there were two marches in central London about the political situation in Hong Kong; a protest outside the Indian High Commission about Kashmir; an LGBT+ “kiss-in” in Parliament Square; and a climate protest outside Brazilian embassy to demonstrate against damage to the Amazon rainforest -- these were just the top results on Google News for 'London protest' in the last couple of days.

This app would be a central place for people to announce, organsie and promote protests, meetings, events, social gatherings and other generally under-reported activism. The app wouldn't take a political stance, but would be a place for people to organise themselves around different topics and locations.

Who are the stakeholders? -Environmentalists, political activists, social justice warriors and people in general who want to be more clued up on what's going on in the world and what's happening around them.

What is currently being done to solve this problem? As far as I can tell there's no central place that gathers this kind of info. Different groups seem to organise via social media, but you have to be plugged into that network already to know about it. The idea of the app is to get people interested and engaged in topics before a meeting or peaceful protest.
