How I get my best work done:

Communication

• I value the giving and receiving of space to learn. I like to read about new concepts thoroughly before diving into dialogue and can find it overwhelming trying to discuss something before I've had a chance to start digesting it.
• So if you see me taking a moment (you can normally see the cogs turning from a mile away) please allow me some space.
• !important In communication I value quality over quantity. I don't need to hear a continual dialogue of someone's thought process and in reality this stops me from focusing and being able to problem solve.

  Learning and planning

• I'm really interested in your learning objectives and I will do my best to help you reach them so I would much prefer that we come away from working together hitting our learning objectives than delivering something that looks good.
• Failing to plan is planning to fail! Let's get a clear idea of our destination before we set off.
• However, I can tend towards being a perfectionist so I really like it when people help me avoid paralysis by analysis!
• I value so much when someone goes out of their way to explain something or share knowledge.

The role I usually take in a team:

• I like to take a leading role in a project environment.
• I also really enjoy being challenged on my opinions/assumptions.
• Actively try to contribute to a positive and healthy working relationship within my teams and encourage others.

  My communication style:

• I am direct but always try to be constructive.

  What I value:

• Knowledge sharing.
• Giving people space to grow.
• Celebrating our successes.
• Getting to the point.

  What people misunderstand about me:

• I'm not the soul singer from the 1970s nor related to the Jackson family (even though my mother is called Janet).

  How I like to get my feedback:

• I value any kind of constructive criticism and am happy for people to as direct as possible inside and outside of work.

  Technical strengths & weaknesses:

• Experience working in HTML, CSS and JS.
• Some experience with making AJAX calls to APIs.
• Have also used Jekyll (Ruby).
• Weaknesses: Paralysis by analysis. Being a perfectionist can sometimes work against me and I need to remind myself of the 80/20 rule to make sure I'm prioritising effectively.

  Interests (programming or otherwise!):

• Fascinated by the process of learning languages (Spanish).
• Enjoy live music and taking nice long walks with a flask of tea.

I don't think Joe ever has a bad day and he somehow manages to keep a great sense of humour even under pressure. He's also very thoughtful, eager to teach and learn from others, and clearly cares about how people are feeling on a project which I really appreciated.

Joe is the definition of a team player. He was our Scrum Master during our project week and he was super supportive and inclusive of each member of the team 💞, and kept us all on track. Joe loves to break things down to make them understandable, and to share this to make sure everyone he's working with is on the same page. If you're pairing with Joe, you'll always be having a laugh, and sometimes singing and dancing 🕺🏻😉

Even though I paired with Joe only a couple of times and we were on the same team for only a week, that is enough to know that Joe is the best team player there is (and excellent scrum master). He makes his priority that everyone's learning objectives are respected and met. He is also proactive in helping whoever is around him to understand whatever they are struggling with. I admire his honesty, big heart, and I look forward to learning more from him!

AKA jimmyface123, Joe is joyful and a great team player. He is very easy to work with and he will definitely ask you a question if he does not understand what's going on. His jokes are refreshing after working crazy hours on a project. He also has a great moustache and he is the one who started a trend in fac19 moustaches. :laughing: You are definitely lucky if he is in your team.
