How I get my best work done:

• Spend some time thinking on my own.
• Thinking out loud.
• Writing stuff down.
• Ask lots of questions.
• Prefer to ask people if they know something (as often find it faster than looking things up), then may look up for precise details.
• Like to work around/with others.
• Like to be efficient.

My communication style:

• Non-verbal (particularly whistling and singing). Occasionally like to talk in Haikus.
• Concise and try to be precise.
• Usually quiet (when I feel like working) and occasionally talkative (when I don't feel like working).
• Prefer conversations with minimal/no swearing if possible.

What I value:

• Sincerity
• Kindness and humbleness

What people misunderstand about me:

• Don't mind being misunderstood
• Try to avoid second hand smoking

How I like to get my feedback:

• Like to get direct/honest feedback. Don't want to be complimented.
• Prefer to give others honest but nice feedback.

Technical strengths & weaknesses:

• Strengths: Mathematics/logic
• Weakness: Slow reader (usually prefer to learn new technical things thoroughly rather than quickly).

Interests (programming or otherwise!):

• Music (classical guitar), Maths, Skiing
• Trying to start a vegetable garden at home.

@VatsKan is a tranquil team player full of perceptive questions and a calming energy that was really valuable when natural project tensions started to rise. A fantastic scrum servant-master who led by example, focusing on compliments in code review in week 1 and making time to check in emotionally throughout week 2.

Vatsal is as perceptive as he is calm and sanguine. He has a real eye for the small details that might pass most of us by and the questions that many of us might not think to ask in our rush to get stuff done. He is admirably firm in his insistance on taking time to read and really understand things before moving on, even when others are feeling time pressure. He is a fountain of original thought and a wonderfully lateral thinker. Personally he is very kind, very likeable and very funny.

What I love about working with Vatsal is that he sees things differently and no challenge is insurmountable to him. So many times when working with him on a project, or pairing in workshops, I've thought something to be impossible and he's shown me there's a way! We always have a laugh and there's no stress. I find it hard not to smile around Vatsal ☺️☺️!
