When I have a clearly defined task and have the time and space to really focus and think about it.
When I am able to experiment and see results for myself. Sometimes I do things knowing they will fail, but that process helps me understand.
The role I usually take in a team:
I am usually happy to take the role of leader/facilitator, especially in the name of getting the ball rolling initially.
I am comfortable doing this so I will hang back and let other people take up the role first if they desire.
I often don't mind at all what task I am assigned to in a group, and will let other people announce their preference first.
If I do give my preference, I'm always happy to give it up so somebody else has theirs.
My communication style:
I can be quite chatty in groups.
I love trying to explain things. Please tell me if I'm not making sense!
Very casual - I joke and laugh in small groups.
What I value:
Kindness, compassion and patience.
Quirkiness. I love the weird things that make us unique!
People who I can feel at ease around and have a laugh with.
What people misunderstand about me:
I have a habit (particularly when debugging) to sometimes go down a rabbit hole and not communicate what I'm doing very well because I have ideas that I want to test. It isn't deliberate and you just need to nudge me and ask me to explain what is going on. I'll thank you for it!
How I like to get my feedback:
If my code could be improved, tell me how and why. I like to understand the reasoning behind it - but please tell me, you won't ever offend me!
If I did something cool that you like, let me know :)
If I do something or behave in a way you don't like - pull me to the side and tell me. I want to be the best ally I can be.
Technical strengths & weaknesses:
I love a task that revolves around maths/logic. Seriously, I could (and do) spend all day coding functions.
I'm a bit hopeless when it comes to making things pretty. I'm trying my best but shapes and colours have always eluded me.
Interests (programming or otherwise!):
I love cool science things. If you hear or see something interesting/inexplicable, tell me.
Gaming. I play too much Rocket League. Looking for teammates. :soccer: :soccer: :soccer:
Techno music. European stuff mostly. :dancers:
Politics - mostly American and Global politics. The reason I moved to tech was because I'm fascinated by Russia's global information warfare projects.
