Preparing for placements and Interviews #29

A community member asks anonymously:

"I want to go for placements in my final year and crack interviews of good companies. As far as I could think of, I need to be good at competitive programming for this. Am I on the right path or are their some specific areas I should focus upon? How should I begin with the preparations for the same.

Apart from competitive, what are the other skill sets I should focus upon to secure a job. Does working on projects based on different stacks helps here? For example, I am Currently learning Data science from Dataquest and applied for Facebook developer circle for data science training. Will it help me stand out during placements?"
