Accepting suggestion to join nearby lines does not do anything #1242

Description

I copied and pasted a whole crosswalk, and then it suggested 2 connections:

1) the crossing node (I accepted and it worked) 2) the endpoint node, which I can click but nothing happens

Steps to reproduce

Copy a crosswalk and paste it at another intersection where there are sidewalks but not an existing crosswalk, then accept the suggestions for connecting geometry that is nearby

this might actually be working but has a lag effect sometimes,not clear to me

When I try it, it does look like I'm able to generate an actual error. I was able to make a first connection but got this when making the second connection.
