Add the possibility to add multiple buildings #78

While mapping I would like to add multiple buildings by pressing the shift-key. Jus shift and click to add all the buildings that fit.

There is a bunch of new multi-select functionality going into Rapid v3. We are going to wait for that work to quiesce and then evaluate additional mapping creature comforts for power users.

@Bonkles Is there an ETA For v3?

Bonkles commented 4 years ago

There is not, not yet. We're still in wait-and-see mode here. There's a lot up in the air with rapid v3's branching strategy right now, so I'm uncertain when that stuff will land. I will take a look at getting a release out earlier than official v3 drops. It may be a temporary URL that we roll out to collect feedback on!

In addition to the above multi-select by shift-key suggestion, it would be convenient to have a lasso select. When doing neighborhoods I can visually inspect it and say yes, this area looks good, then I would like to lasso select a small area and add the buildings within that lasso.

So, we just saw the release of v2 (f2d5fee) on April 3, 2023. Is this still planned for v3 or is there a chance of this making it into v2? Seems like this could still be years off at the current pace if it's slated for v3.

Sorry for the confusion - This feature can make it into Rapid v2, maybe quickly!
3 years ago we thought "v3" might be a version of Rapid forked off "iD v3" but that didn't pan out the way we expected.

We've done a lot of internal rewriting of the core Rapid code leading up to the v2 version, and one of the main issues was that multiselection in v1 was limited to OSM features. This isn't the case anymore, so this issue is unblocked.
