coreywiley commented 6 years ago

Is support for Magento 2 in the roadmap? If so when can we expect it?

naturessource commented 6 years ago

Need 2.0 please

mengyingdu commented 6 years ago

Hi,

We need better support from Magento side and proactively working on this. We will update this when it's ready.

Thanks.

naturessource commented 6 years ago

Thank you for the update. Please keep us posted.

Hi,

Our team met with the CEO of Magento two weeks ago. We think we'll have more support from them and they will be building out pixel/catalog support for 2.0. We will update this when it's ready.

Thanks.

Will update. Thanks.

dmitridr commented 6 years ago

As @mengyingdu said, Magento themselves expressed interest in building a 2.0 version of this plugin. If you want to hurry the process along, I recommend talking to Magento support and telling them you'd really like this extension soon :)

dmitridr commented 6 years ago

Reopening this. We're considering expanding it to 2.0 ourselves, will scope out the difficulty in the coming months.

paras89 commented 6 years ago

We can help with creating an extension for M2, if you'd like and ofcourse offer it as an open source contribution.

dmitridr commented 6 years ago

Hey @paras89 , thanks for offering! We are meeting with Magento in the next few days, and are still in the planning stages, not sure at this point if we will build it, they will build it, or what. I will post in this thread when there are more updates.

Definitely an M2 change would be a big update, we might open a new repository for that. Would love to have help at that time, but we're still at the planning stage right now.

coreywiley commented 6 years ago

Hey @dmitridr! Is there any update?

dmitridr commented 6 years ago

Hey @coreywiley ! We are waiting on word from our contact within Magento to see if they'll build it themselves or not, we've had several discussions and they are making the final decision now. I'll update here when we hear back!

monpac commented 6 years ago

Hey @dmitridr any news on the update? Is the magento social a replacemente for this plugin? It doesn't explain anything about a pixel integration though

chrisshayan commented 6 years ago

any update for magento2?

dmitridr commented 6 years ago

@monpac as far as I can tell, that's not a replacement and not built by us, but you're welcome to try it. It doesn't seem like it has the pixel but I can't be sure.

@chrisshayan Unfortunately it seems that that Magento won't be writing a similar extension themselves. We're currently prioritizing other work, so it will be difficult for us to find time to port this as well. I would caution not to expect an M2 version anytime soon at least not from Facebook, which is a shame because I'd really love to port this. I'll update this thread if our plans change.

To provide some clarity on what's going on with the plugin I can share what's on the broader roadmap for this plugin (ahead of M2 support):

Once those are done, we will likely consider an M2 version.

dmitridr commented 6 years ago

Don't want to get your hopes up too much, but the team is seriously considering an M2 version by the end of this year for our roadmap, based on this thread. Thanks all for your feedback & interest.

Is there any update on M2 version, have you added this feature request to your roadmap? I'd appreciate an update.

dmitridr commented 5 years ago

@liyu1981 has some code written for it. I believe it is close to the alpha stage. Not sure if we will be open sourcing or not. I will ask him to comment here, but not sure if he will have the time.

liyu1981 commented 5 years ago

thanks @dmitridr.

and Yes, everyone, I have been working on updating for a M2 version, and now have something for alpha testing now.

Soon I will post here in finding some alpha testers, so please stay tuned.

liyu1981 commented 5 years ago

Hi, we are ready with an alpha version of M2 plugin, and now looking for closed testers. Some info about this plugin are

  1. It offers the same functionality as M1 version, which includes easy to use UI, pixel standard events and catalog integration.
  2. It is written with complying to M2 code convention, i.e., composer package, php namespace, and it has the same requirements of system like M2.
  3. It also contains new functionality like messenger customer chat plugin.

Before sign up for testing this, please pay attention that

  1. It is alpha software so please be aware of that there will be bugs/defects. There is no warranty for current version, from Facebook the company and the team built this.
  2. We at facebook is working hard to ensure that your data or website is not affected by this plugin, but please do backup your data and system before testing this.
  3. We recommend that you test this with your dev version of website instead of production version.

And how we do this test?

  1. If you agree with the items in above, and want to enroll in this testing, please reply me in this thread, and I will reach you and follow up.
  2. I will release the plugin through private repo of github, so any issue please report in that repo.
  3. Due to the bandwidth of me and the team, we can only have 3-5 testers, in first in first serve way. But in anyway I will reply you, or announce here that we close for testing.

I hope this testing can help us in faster rolling out the plugin for beta, so please help!

@avenicus, @chrisshayan, @coreywiley, @naturessource, are you interested?

avenicus commented 5 years ago

@liyu1981 Sure, I'm happy to help.
