The repository provides code for running inference with the SegmentAnything Model (SAM), links for downloading the trained model checkpoints, and example notebooks that show how to use the model.
This model and package is extremely useful. Since it's debut in April, 2023 it has become one of the popular on github, has had thousands of articles written about it, and numerous forks with alternate model implementation. Yet since then there has not been a single commit on this repo and no issue or PR has been addressed by anyone from facebook (as far as I can tell). Are there any plans to maintain this codebase? Eventually a dependency will have a breaking change which will make the segment-anything code difficult, or potentially impossible, to work with.
