Work towards a new release #127

I've evaluated a number of the issues and have selected a specific issues to dig into. The hope is to get to these within the next 30 days or sooner. What this means is I will evaluate the issues and see if some resolution can be applied. Issues will either be resolved, deferred, or closed.

There are a couple of pull requests open, some of which target planned issues. They will be evaluated, and if sufficient for the direction we'd like to take, merged.

I believe we will be targeting a release of 2.6.0. I will update the issues with the milestone if they will make it into the release.

I believe I have work completed for all currently targeted issues. While there are some bigger things I'd like to handle, they will not make it into 2.6.0. I will leave a small window to see if some potential smaller issues or pull requests are discovered/proposed before releasing.

A few maintenance things still need to be performed before release. Such as updated doc theme, potentially upgrading internal vendored libs etc.

It is done. Hopefully there are no adverse side effects with the new version, but I'm sure I'll hear about it if there are 🙂. I think there are some good changes in this release, hopefully it was worth the wait.
