unable to join 16.x games (16.22, 16.24) on upgrade from 15.40
chown -R 845:845 </path/to/factorio>
chmod u+rwx -R </path/to/factorio>

downgrading back to 15.40 resolves the issue. TransmissionControlHelper seems to be the issue. such a message is not present in 15.40
