You are a great person man. I did a pull request and interaction with you was perfect, you were very helpful. Also this library was way better then anything in rust except maybe compilation times.

"Big" guys are mad because you beat them in benchmarks and your unsafe code doesn't cause any relevant bugs. They are toxic because you are good man this is actually a compliment to you.

I understand that it feels bad to get attacked by a bunch of jealous losers. But I am sure there are many people understand and support you.

I saw the blog post from the security guy and It is pathetic you really shouldn't let losers like him effect you.

Reddit people are just a bunch of circle jerking losers. You shouldn't take them seriously.

Also fk you to all the undefined behavior fetishists and losers who caused this.

Respectfully, I think this kind of comment is part of the problem. "Big guys", "jealous losers", "reddit circle jerk", "undefined behavior fetishists and losers" don't seem like terms that foster a good climate for working together. Your pull requests might have been well treated, but please bear in mind that not everyone was treated that way.

Should the person saying that @fafhrd91 should stop writing rust be shamed for his attitude in this? Yes, I think so.

Does that mean that @fafhrd91 is blameless in this whole thing? Probably not. Like it or not, some people consider UB as a bug. People contributed a sample illustrating a UB in the public API causing a bug, and then a PR for a boring fix. Someone did spent the time to write the issue, write a sample, write a fix, open a PR, only to be summarily discarded and have the issue deleted. If you want a living and thriving community, that's not conducive to it.

But, I agree it was his project and he has every right to do what he wants with it, but bear in mind that people used his project, found it nice, and are now SOL because of no fault of their own other than choosing a framework with a single contributor/maintainer/BDFL.

Best wishes to everyone. Hopefully, everyone will take this opportunity to be more considerate in their communications with their fellow humans to avoid misunderstandings and counterproductive outcomes such as this. Nobody won here, everyone lost.

The way I see is like this:

at that point legitimacy of the argument doesn't matter you can't rationalize this like saying oh but it was a real bug

I really hate the people who did the snarky shit. I really disgusts me as a person I don't care if they have a point or not.

I don't see how writing insults help this situation in any way, since that's what caused the problem in the first place.
