Strange resolution when playing HD .mkv 1280x720 #13

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I try to play a HD .mkv 1280x720 (encoded in DivX 6.6 and MP3)
2. Playback starts, but the resolution is totally messed up, making it
unwatchable
3. Video plays fine except that, though.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Just a wrong resolution instead of the correct one. Even the menu appears
screwed up. No problems with GeeXbox.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
mplayer-ce 0.2, Wii 3.2E, video mode 50hz

Please provide any additional information below.
If needed I can attach a screenshot.

I'm not sure what could be causing the issue. I would say that the Wii is
incapable
of playing HD files, but if GeeXboX plays it... Is it possible to send a
sample of a
file that doesn't work?

MPlayer CE is an unofficial port of the very popular multimedia player for
various platforms including Windows and Linux. This Nintendo Wii port
features the same compatibility that the other versions offer, but is limited
in some aspects as it can't playback some high resolution videos due to the
processing power of the Wii.

Most HD movies play, it's a tricky question to answer, it's give and take with
HD
files. Does GeeXbox play it well? Hopefully we can fix this issue.
Yeah as agentx said, can you cut us a sample of non playing files, thankyou.

Yeah, GeeXbox plays it well (well it stutters sometimes, but no problems on the
resolution). Hm, I'll try to cut a sample of it.

As soon as I'll have done it, I'll attach it here.

Here it is. A straight cut done with VirtualDub. No re-encoding.

Just tested it again with the sample:
mplayer_ce: Strange resolution, unwatchable
GeeXbox: Perfect (just a bit stuttering, but the encoding is heavy, so it's
natural)

I hope you can figure out this :) Good work and thanks!
