Possible to stream from ubuntu maverick file server to droid x?  on the fly 
transcoding?

I want to enjoy the 'unlimited' bandwidth I was coerced into purchasing..mwahaha

There is no PPA, i don't know how to create a good script for deb packaging.

Anyway you can install vlc-shares manually in maverick (10.10):
