Like in Smarthome applications, the ripple frequency? of power supplies can be used in order to identify each unique device and to see its power drain.

This probably could be a good topic for a diploma/bachelor/master thesis

A gnuradio Block could do the fourier transformation to:

• Show which ripple frequencies are available
• allow to set "device labels" on specific frequencies (or set the labels only on each sink ?)
• send the current energy consumption of each device to a sink, so that it can be used in FESA
