Why is the TFTP directory zipped? #3

The compression ratio is pretty poor, does it have something to do with the file permissions (or owner)? or was the whole archive lifted from somewhere else?

Othervise, it would be more transparent, and easier to track changes, if the TFTP contents were archived uncompressed.

You mean netboot.tar.gz ? That tarball is copied from an online source: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/netboot/

That's why it's not unzipped as we don't maintain anything inside it but just copy over that one single file that we maintain.

Cool :) I have no idea how Ubuntu distributes this, i.e. versioning, updates etc... but I think it's best to keep our own copy, if anything we need it in the field.
