Support installing into configurable libdir

It would be great if the cmake script allowed the library to be installed into 
a customizable location instead of hardcoding lib, especially since multilib or 
multiarch systems may place it somewhere else.

See the attached patch against current svn trunk for one method of allowing 
this while still defaulting to lib.
