Request to add a github action #1984

Closed Jassi10000-zz closed 2 years ago

Jassi10000-zz commented 2 years ago

This is an awesome and an engaging repository , plus due to hacktoberfest'21 many open source enthusiasts ( preferably students who are first time contributors ) open issues and PRs which eventually help repo to grow I think there should be a github action to welcome contributors on their each issue and PR so as to make repository more interactive

If you love the idea , please assign this to me

Hi @Jassi10000, and thanks for reaching out. Could you please elaborate on your idea though? We do use GitHub Actions, or maybe you had another type of action in mind?

Jassi10000-zz commented 2 years ago

I just want to add value to this repo by adding a gh action that welcome contributors on their each issue and PR so as to make repository more interactive and guidens them on CODE_OF_CONDUCT etc. to make the repo more interactive

vytas7 commented 2 years ago

Could you show an example where you have done this in another repo? So that I clearly understand which type of "action" you mean.

Edit: @Jassi10000 do you suggest making this action run on pull requests -- https://github.com/actions/first-interaction?

Jassi10000-zz commented 2 years ago

Yeah sure

This action goes both with first issue and PR

@vytas-screen9 It looks something like this

@vytas7 Should I move further with this ?

vytas7 commented 2 years ago

No, the maintainer team needs to make a decision whether we want this behaviour. Let us get back to you once we've discussed this.

vytas7 commented 2 years ago

Hi again @Jassi10000, We have now discussed this and decided not to proceed with such an action at this time, but thanks for bringing this up.

If anything, we will probably explore Github issue templates as a first step, which could potentially make the triage process more efficient.

Sure sir , no issues
