UPDATE: SOLVED

here is the summary video of how to connect qjackctl + carla + obs + reafir.vst to get realtime mic noise reduction in linux mint cinamon 20 should work on other linux. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bws8F0J1CSI&feature=youtu.be

Still would like to know how to use Carla as an obs plugin if anyone knows?

i have linux mint cinnamon 20, i am also trying this in ubuntu cinnamon 20.

I am trying to use reafir realtime microphone noise suppression vst to cut the realtime mic noise in obs studio for streaming.

I cannot seem to get the out put from carla into OBS studio, on a separate audio channel input.

installing carla was fine from software manger carla version 2.4 copying reafir 64bit was fine from a windows machine loading reafir is ok However i am only given input reafir output How do i route the output to a virtual mic or other output rather than system main.

the software manager does not see or know about cadence. I managed to sudo install cadence but it was an old version. I could not figure out how to make the source files for cadence. I got .82 release versions of cadence but they would not run

The problem: Decent realtime noise reduction for OBS.

(i have tried noise torch/ cadmus and wasnt very impressed) (I use noise gate filter and noise suppression in obs but its still not as good as reafir)

Running reafir 64 or 32 .vst in carla. (achieved this) but it does swamp the desktop audio with a monitored sound.

then outputing to a virtual mic / alternate sound source than my primary sound out / stereo mix desktop. <<<<< problem!

I want some way of taking the output from carla running through reafir and taking that a microphone source for OBS studio.

The problem is i see no way of outputting from carla to anything other than the main audio mixer output.

I can sudo get cadence but its only .5

i downloaded the realease of cadence .82 but it just will not launch on mint or ubuntu 20. I cannot figure out how to compile .92 makefile.. typing make shunts up pathing problems to qt5.

I downloaded the kxstudio 14 iso and installed but that doesnt work with obs because it uses opengl 2 rather than 3.3+

this video shows kind of what i am trying to achieve but i see no sign of jack sinks in the carla patchbay gui.

do i need to use qtcljack or some other mixer software to take the carla vst plugin host? https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxaudio/comments/3wj1qf/linux_alternative_for_voicemeeter_banana/ something like this? Jack + patchage + calf + ardour but using carla ?

I am sorry, but this is way too long and all over the place. This does not seem like an actual issue with carla, but rather you needing help settings things up.

Anyway, you do not setup the audio output in the carla's patchbay, but rather in the engine settings.

To really get this to work, the way I understood you, you got 2 options:

I seem to have got it working via jack. But how do i turn off carla monitoring the mic jack sound.

Video of progress so far, Still have a problem with carla monitoring the microphone into headphones. https://youtu.be/qKqyRkS8Gwc

how do i load carla as a plugin in obs? how do I setup jack so it works with carla? Is there anywhere to get this information? When i try to use Carla + QjackCtl carla just breaks when i load it. The plugin view in patchbay goes blank.

If i have to stop carla and do something and come back the canvas is black even tho in the minimap bottom left i can see little plugins the main window does not show them. I then have to reboot my machine. So i only get to test carla once before having to reboot.

i managed to turn off carla monitoring the mic by breaking carla to system in jack. Here is a video of it all working :) UPDATE: SOLVED
