Carla can't be discovered as a plugin during Reaper scan (Fedora Silverblue 38) #1772

Hello,

I have Reaper installed through Distrobox on Fedora Silverblue 38 (it is an immutable version of Fedora Workstation). I tried installing Carla inside my Distrobox container with dnf install Carla which outputs that it is installed, however, the binaries are nowhere to be found on the system.

Then I tried using Silverblue's system layering tool rpm-ostree to install Carla. Now Carla shows up in Gnome app menu and can be run as a standalone. However, Reaper doesn't recognise it during scanning. Even tried adding the /usr/bin/ and /usr/lib64/carla/ paths to Reaper, to no avail. It doesn't show that it can't scan them, it just doesn't scan them, like they don't exist at all.

Now, the problem might be because Reaper is run from a Distrobox container and Carla is installed on system, but I don't think this should be the issue.

I also tried working with the version that can be simply unzipped, which is recognised by Reaper during scanning. Unfortunately, Carla's UI doesn't show like that at all, just a black box. Tried detecting missing dependencies with ldd, but there were none missing.

What could be the problem and how can I make Carla play nice with Fedora Silverblue?

Thanks,

if that is anything alike flathub, the carla package does not include plugin versions. please open a ticket against fedora, this is a downstream problem
