Is there support for Z-code version 6? #72

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Trying to launch Zork Zero and Arthur

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Gargoyle opened the data file (once I renamed .zip into z6) but can't seem
to render any of graphics.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
gargoyle-2008-12-25-windows

Please provide any additional information below.
Just wondering if z6 is supported, and if full support if planned.

garglk includes two Z-Machine terps: Nitfol and Frotz. Frotz is more
feature-rich
while Nitfol is older and unmaintained. But Nitfol does bring some limited z6
support to the table, which is why it's in the package.

Windows Frotz comes from the same Frotz codebase as Gargoyle's Glk Frotz, but it
includes some features added after they split - such as Unicode and full z6
support.

It's on my radar to merge those changes back over and release an updated Glk
Frotz,
but I'm not sure when it will happen.

The Unicode features have been merged in, but at this point it is unlikely that
V6 support will be added to Glk Frotz.
