Dual login (Joomla->phpBB) not working with PHP_LOGIN_INDIRECT

Using the option PHP_LOGIN_INDIRECT, and logging into joomla (jFusion login module) I am not simultaneously logged into phpBB. If I change to the "direct" mode, dual login works flawlessly.
