I would like for there to be a feature of just a view-only or read-only pile. Players can open the loot pile, see what is it in and communicate to the other party what loot they acquired and then the DM can pass around the loot awarded to whomever the group chooses as the recipients. It works great with Gold and loot with Multiple items (like 4 swords for a party of 4) but if there is just 1 magic item then anyone can take it.
This comes from a result of greedy players that happened in a game, and while it was talked out with the group and resolved, i feel having a player-token restriction via Item Piles modules would solve any further attempt whether accidental or on purpose.
