As a new user it can be confusing sometimes with the terms being used.
I believe changing these terms will make it easier to understand.
Clans -> Groups: A group is a collection of users
Groups -> Roles: A role is a collection of permissions
This way it's easier to understand that you need to create and set up a group which is a collection of users where they have certain roles which is a group of permissions before you can add a record of a user.
I've been asked the question "Why must I create a clan just to add whitelisted players? It doesn't make sense since these whitelisted players are already members of other clans."
I just tell them to imagine that a Clan is a "group". A group must then have roles which in this case are "Groups". You need to create a group first, then assign roles to that group, where you can then add whitelisters.
Usually, the term clan is being used as like players exclusively playing together with their own bond and even rules, so it sounds off when the word "clans" is used this way. At least for me.
