Widget fails to scale properly #74

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install App
2. Place Widget on home screen
3. Resize widget

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Contents of widget should rearrange to fit new space. Instead, all contents
scale, regardless of size, so that no useful information can be seen in widget
window.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
WWWJDIC 2.3.3
Android 4.1.2
If possible, provide a stack trace (logcat).

As I can only test on HTC Magic and Nexus One, I can't reproduce device
specific issues. Without a stack trace, there is usually nothing I can do.
So do attach logcat output. That or, send me a phone :)

Please provide any additional information below.

Thanks. This usually happens on some launchers that send non-standard sizes to
widgets. What phone and launcher are you using? Can you try with a different
launcher, like ADW Launcher for example?

I'm using a Sony XPeria VL. I'm sort of a novice when it comes to smartphones,
I'm not really sure what launcher I'm using.
The weird thing about this is that the widget used to work fine. sometime
earlier this year, after an update, I presume, it stopped functioning. I've
only recently had enough free time to care about it though.

Thanks. This is happening on some other Sony phones too, it's a know problem
with their default launcher. You are probably using the default one too.
Before, you could resize the widget but text size remained the same. I updated
it to scale the text according to widget size when resizing, but that depends
on the launcher reporting the correct size, in the correct format, which some
launchers (like the Sony one) fail to do. I don't have a Sony device, so I
can't really investigate this.

If you don't want to mess with your phone, just use the default launcher.
Otherwise you could try installing another (lots of info about this on the
Internet). You can always switch back if you prefer the original Sony launcher.
