Use quetzal format save files for compatibility with other interpreters.
Auto-append file suffix if not provided.

Also, consider saving supplemental plist with the save file. Could save date,
score/move counters, contents of
status line, etc. and display this info in the restore dialog to make
identifying save files easier.

Would this mean it work work with normal Frotz on OSX ?
I have Frotz on my OSX machine, and when I try to load a save file from the
iphone, I
get a segmentation fault.

I know this isn't something you would expect anyone to do but, if you choose to
load from a save file
after dying midgame, and there is no save file in the saves list, you are stuck
on that page and have to
relaunch the app to escape. And, some of the time when this happens it
relaunhes to the same blank
save page and you have to restart the device to get out of it.

Fangorn, what happens if you just hit Cancel on the restore dialog?
It doesn't take you back to the game's "Restart, restore, undo or quit?" prompt?
What game were you playing when this happened?
