Borderzone realtime status line update clears entry field

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. load attached bzbug.sav into border zone (starts you by searchlights in 
chapter 2)
2. "watch lights" (starts auto updating the light positions in the status line
3. try to type any command. Every update (every few seconds) clears what you've 
typed so far.

What is the expected output or behavior?  What do you see instead?
I would expect the status line to update without throwing away everything I've 
typed so far.

What version of Frotz are you using?
1.5.3 for iOS (iPad)

What device model are you using (iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPod Touch 3rd gen,
etc.)
iPad 1

What version of iOS?  3.2, 4.0, 4.3, etc.)
4.3.1

Please provide any additional information below.

The version of Borderzone is the only extant one, Z5, Release 9.
