Navigation in Room view:

Up/Down to switch between rooms
Left/Right to switch between spaces (spaces' icons on top as indicators, see 1st pic)
Call to quickly voice call
Options for more actions with rooms (mute notifications, leave...) and other app options

Navigation in Message view:

Up/Down to switch between messages
While focusing on other users' messages: LSK to react, Enter to reply, RSK for Options (more info, editing and sharing messages...); press # to quick reply
While focusing on input textbox: LSK to attach files, Enter to send, RSK for Options

I use tab navigation so ArrowLeft/Right is used for that

Well, it's mostly the same, just now that I think tabs on room view should be used entirely for DMs and spaces; Settings and About stuff should be tucked under the Options menu.

P.S. My design for the room view is heavily inspired by fluffychat.im. You can take a look of its main page navigation

Great design. Instead of spaces profile just dot is enough I think it will reduce the space. Also the chat bubble will be best.

I'm sticking to something simple till the app becomes stable. The option to have multiple styles and change them via Settings will be added.

My main goal is to expand the message view as large as possible to fit more items, so chat bubbles are a bit space-wasting. However, you could do Left/Right in message view (while reading messages) to switch between chat threads.

small adjustments in the design would make the chat more readable

line break after<date><username>
more distance between the individual posts
showing who has entered the room is not necessary because it takes up space
in the settings you should be able to activate fullscreen
Show input field only if you want to write something
the bottom bar with icons instead of text, the bar should also be transparent, the buttons can hover over the chat history. i did that in feedolin, there is more space and it looks a bit more modern.

Regarding the last one, it is an issue of KaiUI not chooj and it is also planned. But I can't be everywhere :/
