The motivation for the choice of P(a) needs to be expanded a bit, the toy models used are not physically motivated and that needs to be made clear. I'd even suggest a figure (for the general reader) of P(a) for the three distributions, if there is room. Some mention of the more general "low" distribution in Appendix C needs to be made in the main text.
