What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Let growl be running.
2. Wait for screensaver to activate or use fast-user switching to lock the
screen.
3. Enter the password to get back in, growl crashes.

What is the expected output?
Growl should not crash.

What do you see instead?
Growl crashed.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Growl 1.2.1b4; Mac OS X 10.6.3

Please provide any additional information below.

Are you able to consistently reproduce this, or did this only happen once?

Quite consistently, but not always. Growl has been crashing a lot since last
week
(that I have noticed). Was running 1.2 then, running 1.2.1b4 now, but does not
seem
to have helped.

I have Adium, Thunderbird and HardwareGrowler running all the time.
Notifications
from Adium would have Traditional and Simplified Chinese characters in them.

Is there a way or debug version of Growl that can log the notifications? That
should
capture the last notification that crashed Growl... just a hunch!

Update to this issue:

When I receive the notification from Adium, which contains the unicode mirroring
character, Growl crashes:
ןǝbuɐɥdɐɹǝs - http://oneasiamart.com connected

More on unicode mirroring character:
http://digitalpbk.blogspot.com/2006/11/fun-with-unicode-and-mirroring.html

I don't think it's the screen-saver anymore! Just a coincidence.

Indeed, I could reproduce it with a notification with title
“ןǝbuɐɥdɐɹǝs - http://oneasiamart.com connected”.

Curiously, WebKit displays work fine.

As far as I can tell, this is Apple's bug. I'll file it in RadarWeb later.

If it's apple's bug, nothing we can really do right?

@prhgrowl please check this on 10.7, i believe this has been fixed (no crash
from smoke or candy bars with "ןǝbuɐɥdɐɹǝs - http://oneasiamart.com
connected" as input).
