ActiveX Control Pad does not install #56

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Just try installing controlpad, it has failed on every version of wine
that I have tried in the past year

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: successful installation
Instead: dialog box saying installation failed

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.30? Source downloaded via git two days ago (27 Sept 2009), compiled
with all features enabled and installed on top of 1.1.25 on Fedora 10. I
installed 1.1.25 originally via RPM from Fedora's updates-testing
repository, and I installed 1.1.30(?) over it in /usr/ instead of /usr/local/.

Please provide any additional information below.
Yes, I cleaned out the .wine directory first.

I see this, too. It's easy to miss; the dialog is very bland.

What app are you using that needs controlpad, btw?

I have no idea what needs controlpad, as I have never used it for anything
before.
What is it used for?

Installation fails for me:

Wine 1.1.35

ActiveX support is required for the PSPad editor ( pspad.com )

I tried looking at this today, and the error disappeared whenever I
looked at it hard. Seems to be a heisenbug.

I improved the controlpad verb in wisotool2 (soon to be winetricks)
to warn if fm20 didn't get installed.
