Cannot format disk in ESXi

Hi. I have tried various things to make this work but i am struggling when it comes to DSM install screen.

When i try to install it, it fails at formatting system partition. The error says: Couldnt format the disk. ARPL: v1.1-beta2 ESXi: 7.0.3 All disks are virtual.

Note: Yes i know i did write wrong on HDD 1.

I can confirm no DSM configuration website showing up on beta 1.

Atleast on Beta 2 i could access the DSM configuration site. Seems like ARPL isn't compatible with ESXi at the moment. The older version (a bit harder one) Tiny Red Pill Loader works as it should on ESXi though.

On my test,if I change ESXi boot option to BIOS,v1.1 beta1 also can’t work,it stuck and can’t find synology on web assistant or synology desktop assistant

On my test，v1.0 beta7 working,but as I pass though SATA controller to the virtual Synology,in most time it stuck and can’t login synology web assistant.My environment is esxi 8,0

The driver modules in 1.0 b7-1.0b9 conflict. I have encountered that the VF network card cannot work under the fully loaded module. You need to cancel all drivers and select the corresponding module as required. I haven't tested it since.

On my test,if I disable the models of RAID controller and SATA controller,it also will stuck after booting,I use aprl1.0 beta9.

Without this, all boot issue are gone.

Tested on vmware workstation pro 17 and esxi 6.7U3 both format failed on [v1.1-beta2a] rollback to [v1.0-beta13] works OK for me

I think this version is near success as I have tried the other loader such as Tiny Red Pill Loader.

my problem is that when I boot Tiny Red Pill Loader ,my network adapter can only one work according to which managerment network connected to,but ARPL solved the issue

The created disk is not initialized. first format the disk with win10 and start the win10 installation and interrupt the installation and shutdown the virtual machine. and try syno setup again

I have same problem. Stuck at 8%, cant format drive. Using vsphere.

First win10 install ntfs format then stop install, try again dsm.

Instructions on ESXI

1. Starting the Loader:

   • After starting the loader on vSphere, proceed with the following steps.

2. SSH Connection:

   • Use the SSH client to connect.
   • Username: root
   • Password: Redp1lL-1s-4weSomE

3. Enter the Commands:

   sed -i 's|^installAddon disks$|[ "true" = "${DT}" ] \&\& (&)|' /opt/arpl/ramdisk-patch.sh
   sed -i 's|^echo "/addons/disks.sh.*$|[ "true" = "${DT}" ] \&\& (&)|' /opt/arpl/ramdisk-patch.sh

   • Then type menu.sh and press ENTER to return to the menu.

4. Configuration:

   • Select the Model option and choose your preferred model.
   • Select the Buildnumber option and pick the first option.
   • In the Serial menu, choose Generate a random serial number.

5. Addons:

   • Choose your addons, like the codec patch for example.

6. Generation:

   • Select the Build option and wait for the loader to generate.

7. Startup:

   • Select the Boot option and wait for DSM to start.

similar problem, workaround: prepare VM on VirtualBox, export in OVA and import on Vmware. DSM boot regular, you can add new disks directly from Esxi

You can try an older aprl version, after install successful and then update the aprl
