broader application of link to d3 #11

sankey.link from here offers by far the best collation of path generators that I know of for sankey and related visualizations. Would you consider making a separate module to provide this to a broader community? I will be happy to do the work.

Hi @timelyportfolio , if you think it is valuable, definitely. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to work on this project recently. Please feel free to take code and create a new module or project, and I'm happy to contribute.
