We have a designer at L3S who /could/ design them, but a) he's very busy b) he costs money (which would not be your problem, of course ;-), c) I don't know if he does icons ... nevertheless, I could ask him if you like (but we would need to explain him the Icons en detail).
Anyway: don't have too much hope that we would get an answer ...
If it worked out, that'd be great! Nice icons are an eye-catcher :).
Maybe, after we found a nice & free generic set of icons (open file, save file, export etc.), we could just ask him to redo ConExp's remaining specific icons (e.g. the icon for the transpose operation) approximately in the same style as the generic set of icons. But there is no rush, I guess.
I created my own icons for the context editor in c6b1881e79837a5d4b4c9c15a740472e564022fb and I created icons for our three views (see db9f35663a33be34eac2fb9e824a37c094168f41).
These icons were done quickly. The designer could use them as a basis for his own, hopefully really good, icons, though.
We now still need a free (small & grayish icons I'd say) iconset for the main toolbar and ideally new Icons for the lattice editor. But I think we could use ConExp's original icons for the lattice editor in the interim.
Some links for iconsets:
Maybe we could use the OS's icons.
It seems you can't get icons like "open", "save" and so on from the OS...only some of the OptionPane, FileChooser or JTree...
The toolbar with the new icons (6f8650368952d4c86aa6270b7c05227d9eafaff4) already looks much better. I like the exploration icon ;).
Could you reduce the left and top margin of the top toolbar, though? It looks too excessive
The margin problem has been fixed in f1867e8e0d0ff09d328bdcd85238937363186a4a
As far as I understand, your work on this issue is done @DavidBormann, right? What's remaining are the lattice editor icons, but that would be @JanFK's task then. So if you agree, just reassign this issue to @JanFK.
I think this issue is old because the icons look good as they are in my opinion.
Use free icons in place of ConExp's icons. The creation of a handful custom icons may be needed.
