Server cost estimates #9

Some rough estimates of server costs given 3 potential scenarios. This does not need to be exact at all and it would be sufficient to provide a general range for each scenario. The purpose of this is to help me anticipate what our total costs could be in the near future.

Estimated monthly costs with Linode:

A. Userbase = 500, Video sessions per day = 13, Simultaneous users per session = 5

B. Userbase = 5,000, Video sessions per day = 130, Simultaneous users per session = 5

C. Userbase = 50,000, Video sessions per day = 1,300, Simultaneous users per session = 5

Bro, only way to do this that I can think that is an real estimation would be to choose 1 technology - easyRTC, tokbox, etc and try to load with fake users and measure how the machine`s going....costing is always extremely hard to do and time consuming.

I think we could do this ahead. We have to find how many sessions one linode can handle, but that depends on; VOIP technology, application server, database, programming itself, N variables that we do not now the answer right now - and even if we pretend to stick in one it would still be more than a guess than an estimation.

I think we could do this ahead and just keep in mind that one linode can handle some number between 1 and 100 simultaneous session.
