fcitx5 loss option to switch to input extra large unicode chars under bodhi linux #826

1) fcitx5 loss option to switch to input extra large unicode chars under bodhi linux.

2) fcitx5 works less smooth under bodhi linux.

3) fcitx5 will keep the input methods popup select menu under bodhi linux.

fcitx has not the problem all above. but

it cannot activate fcitx with downloaded appimage of geany, but it works with apt installed geany. ( i didn't try if it works with fcitx5 )

i am not sure if it's only the problem with bodhi linux. cause fcitx5 works well with xubuntu.

@creatxrgithub what’s the version of fcitx5? google shows bodhi is based on ubuntu 20.04, which has a extremely old version of fcitx5. I don’t suggest any one to use the one in 20.04 since it’s a pre-release version.

fcitx4 works well with bodhi linux, except the appimage.

it's the problems of fcitx5 with bodhi linux.

the bodhi linux what i tried is base bodhi 7 which based on ubuntu 22.04

So what unicode feature are you talking about? is it the one triggered by ctrl+shift+alt+U?

Also, can you post the output of fcitx5-diagnose while terminology is running?

Ok, so it's about rime. But I don't see a problem here.

The data for fcitx5-rime is stored under ~/.local/share/fcitx5/rime. fcitx4 it's stored under ~/.config/fcitx/rime.

Please check your rime configuration instead.

I re-tried fcitx5. You are right. Before I use my backup of default.yaml to replace the /usr/share/rime-data/default.yaml

Maybe it cause the problem 1 .

2) fcitx5 works less smooth than fcitx4. fcitx5 takes more time to finish restart. even with "share input state" of global setting. it often lose response of switch input (by select menu item or hotkey) after selected input method in popup menu then switch to other editor. 比如在瀏覽器中輸入時用彈出菜單選擇輸入法，之後立卽切換到文本編輯器，再切換輸入法，輸入法經常沒有響應切換，不論是用快捷鍵還是再用彈出菜單中選擇。總的來說，比較遲滯。不過之前在用 xubuntu 的時候，用 fcitx5 好象沒有這個問題。

3) when right-click the icon in the systray, its popup menu will keep until selected a item or right-click other position. The popup menu cannot close by left-click other position. 彈出菜單必須要作選擇，否則，如果僅是左鍵點到其他的位置，彈出菜單不會消失。

4) feature: EFL support.

you can try ECORE_IMF_MODULE=xim terminology and see if that works. I don't think there's any difference for efl.

tray menu is a known issue (https://github.com/fcitx/fcitx5/issues/169) (but fcitx4 menu is weird in a different way though), but since most desktop are migrated to https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/StatusNotifierItem/ so it was not a high priority.

I can try to do a fix for that in the next version.
