Comment about election reform

What were you trying to do and how can we improve it?

Dear Senator, The integrity of our elections is important to prevent civil unrest. In modern times the perception of corrupt elections has caused civil wars and military coups. The last few residential elections have been very close. The goal of our present election reforms should not be to make voting easy but to make it uncorruptible.

The present voting system is open to unprovable fraud. There are a number of ways to cheat in elections. As someone who has been a Warden for over twenty elections, I know some of the weaknesses of our present system. I know how scammers can vote numerous times and never be caught. I know how ballot boxes can be "stuffed" with out being detected. Below are some suggestions for keeping the integrity of our elections. At the very end I will list three weaknesses of our present system.

Election reform (1). Make election a national holiday (2). No early voting or only one ballot box at city hall with a police officer and a representative of all registered parties present. (3). No mailed blanketed ballots (4A). Absentee ballots allowed. (Note, they are not private.). They must be applied for in time to cross reference a national list. (4B). No same day registration. Registrations must be applied for in time to cross reference a national list. (5). Picture ID to register to vote. (6). Registration requires a Social Security number, or a driver's license number. That number should be recorded on a national register. (7). All elections must have paper backup. (8). Auxiliary ballots are ballots rejected by the ballot scanner. They must be protected and counted. In elections that are not close, they are not counted. To empty the auxiliary ballot slot, a policeman and a representative of each party must supervise the emptying of the auxiliary ballot box just like the voted ballots. (9). The security tags used to lock ballot boxes and auxiliary ballots must have individually numbered tags and be registered to numbered ballot boxes or ballot bags. (10) When moving ballot after the election, police and all political parties need to be present for the entire trip to safe storage. _____============================================================== Presently, there is very little to prevent people from voting in a number of towns aster is no way to cross reference who has voted. We do not cross check SS numbers or driver's licenses.
Presently, early voting ballots, mailed ballots, provisional ballots and absentee ballots are not secret ballots; they must be opened and checked before they are voted. As a Warden it was my job to open all these ballots that needed to be voted. In most wards the poll workers know people in their neighborhoods so there is no 'secret ballot' for people who do not put their ballot in the ballot box. Presently, Auxiliary ballots are vulnerable to switching because they do not go through a scanner.
