Search donations by company/employer #2121

Hi guys,

This is request 2

I see, when I select a donation to a candidate by a person, that their employer/company is listed. When I click on the employer, I can get a list of who else made donations from that employer/company in general during that election cycle.

However, I can't search by that employer/company by itself as a starting point. Nor can I use an employer/company as a filter on a candidate's data, even though I can filter by donation amounts and individuals.

Considering that understanding the dynamics of donations of employee and industries in campaign finance, I find it odd that it isn't there. It would be super useful, especially since I am currently trying to figure out a way to hack around this. :/

Hi Shana, sorry for the confusion. These filters are available on the Individual Contributions page here: https://www.fec.gov/data/receipts/individual-contributions/?two_year_transaction_period=2018&min_date=01%2F01%2F2017&max_date=12%2F31%2F2018

Note, this is a subset of data that's included on the main Receipts page; since employer and occupation don't apply to non-individual contributions, those filters were put on the IC page. Hope this helps!

Yes (ish). I guess I am wondering how to merge a contributor and a campaign search, since it doesn't seem to be obvious. Like why are most of the contributor filters on the campaign page, but not all?

Sorry for the delay. I lost track of this issue this week. Can you clarify what you mean by "why are most of the contributor filters on the campaign page, but not all?"
