4 years ago one or two lines for (title|first line) and the date would be good. optionally with 3 lines and something to configure the font size, either inside of the app or at the discretion of the system settings.
to reduce the used space even more, maybe adding an option to configure the borders would be good.
to choose to either separate with a gap of background color (like it currently is), or with 1-2 pixel lines in a contrasting color between the entries, much like in Aegis' compact views.

Please consider adding an option so note index lists only occupy one line per note (I.e. just the title). For situations with many, many pages of notes, it's considerably more convenient to see 30, 40, 50 titles at one time (depending on font size and display orientation/size).
Also, please consider providing an option to change the font family (e.g. Helvetica, Calibri, Consolas, Times New Roman, etc) for the note title, and (separately) for the note body. (Serif fonts aren't normally considered appropriate for headers/titles, but of course that's rather subjective.)
