I can try to see if it will build on 7: testing is always welcome. Note that Fedora 32 pandoc (not the copr) is also still only on 2.7.3. Is there 2.9 feature that you need?

Thanks for your quick response! I'm mainly interested in the improvements in the docx writer for localised versions of Word, but also in the improvements in the HTMLWriter regarding math/tex. Besides these improvements (available in 2.8 if I'm correct) it's also important for us to have a distribution channel that can keep the package up-to-date in case of bugs or security issues.
Fwiw: the binary package Pandoc themselves provides seems to work just fine under CentOS 7, so in theory it should build just fine.
Currently, installing Pandoc using copr seems to be the most reliable way to get it working under CentOS 7. We noticed that while the Fedora builds are currently on version 2.9.*, the CentOS7 (Epel) build are lagging behind a bit because they are still on version 2.7.3.
Do you plan to update the CentOS 7 builds to the new version as well, or will they be stuck on 2.7.3 for the time being?
Thanks for your response!
