Capture more volunteer information. #1

@Kplow76

Adding the specific fields you requested would not be a huge task. However, I am worried that we could be tacking on features to Feed & Report that would be much better handled by another application.

Can you describe what y'all see as a successful outcome from this feature? If we better understand the goal we might be able to suggest a couple solutions that could achieve these goals.

@Kplow76 wanted to follow up on this. Any thoughts? Here are some ways I could see this info being used.

  1. As a way to stay in better contact with donors. Reach out to them on their birthday and encourage them to encourage others to donate instead of giving gifts. Encourage them to get others in their company involved etc.
  2. To run reports on money received from volunteers over a certain amount of time. To encourage volunteers who haven't donated to donate. Etc.
  3. Make a route a 'family route' instead of an individual route.

These are just a couple ideas, but depending on what you're wanting to do the feature we need to create could be very different.

@Kplow76 bumping this question again. It's pretty important to figure out this feature and understanding the goals is a big part to understanding this feature.

I am not real good at this Github thing. I missed all of those comments from a few days ago.

We are looking for "missed opportunities" with our volunteers. Do they work for a company that donates to us? Or is it a company that should donate to us. Where does their spouse work? Is that a company we should be reaching out to? Who donates money as well as time? Do they have a certain skill set...ie. they work with technology or in customer service or in the food industry. Also, birthdates etc so that we can interact with them on a more personal level...having the board send a note for big milestones etc. Does that help?

We are looking at creating/purchasing/developing a donor database in the future and certainly that will have the more specifics we are looking for. This is specific to volunteers, finding ways to better engage them as well as how can we better utilize them.

@Kplow76 do you know what version of Microsoft Outlook Loaves & Fishes uses? I think it might be helpful to see if we can't sync volunteers in F&R with Outlook contacts.

We all use a different version. I have the latest one b/c my entire desktop is new as of a couple of months ago. Paulette and Breean aswell as the staff computer are a couple of versions behind.
