Check the availibity of the VERSION, this causes the actual $(shell git ls-files -m | wc -l) expression being deferred in its evaluation.
VERSION
$(shell git ls-files -m | wc -l)
It's a little lame, but I don't have a better way, atm ...
is TAG not always defined?
yes, it is ... but the nested expression is not evaluated ... hence that workaround ... :thinking:
